Earlier this month, I had the privilege of witnessing one of the most satisfying recoveries I’ve seen in recent times.
It was fast, dramatic, and deeply reaffirmed my faith in homeopathy’s power when used correctly.
A true case of healing through classical homeopathy as described in the old journals and textbooks.
Case Background
A 39-year-old woman, otherwise healthy, began feeling a vague dullness and general sense of unwellness on April 1st. By the next morning, she noticed pain on the left side of her throat. She assumed it was a regular sore throat.
But the pain kept increasing.
She already had a visible goitre on the left, and it seemed to be pressing and enlarging. The area appeared inflamed. We tried capturing a photo, but failed (as most husbands do with medical selfies!).
However, we could visibly appreciate a swelling.
First Line of Treatment
I began with a water dose of a remedy targeted for simple throat infections, as that was the closest clinical match at the time. But by night, the pain became intolerable.
- She couldn’t swallow
- Couldn’t turn in bed
- Couldn’t bend her neck
- She was restless the whole night, even after repeated doses.
The Real Picture Emerges
The symptoms were beyond a routine infection. By the next morning, it was clear we were dealing with acute thyroiditis.
I adjusted the prescription accordingly, again in a water dose, and she began it by 6:30 AM.
And Then—Magic.
By 12 noon, there was already a marked reduction in pain.
- The goitre’s sensitivity dropped
- She could swallow better
- Her restlessness eased
By night, she was almost pain-free, except for lingering weakness.
By Day 3: Back to Normal!
No pain.
The swelling was gone, completely back to its original size.
She could eat, drink, cough, sleep, and move normally.
Her first reaction: “That’s it? It’s gone? Just like that?!”
She had expected something much worse. She had seen friends suffer with thyroid swellings, many ending up with surgery. She was worried she’d go down that road too. But nope—no antibiotics, no hospitalisation, no painkillers, no drama.
The Test Results
She did get her blood work done—
- Leucocyte count: 13,800
- ESR: 35
- Thyroid profile: Normal
All pointing towards inflammation.
We advised a USG thyroid, but since she improved rapidly, she didn’t follow through. Once better, the test was forgotten. (Ah, humans.)
Update – 2 Weeks Later
Goitre? Not even palpable anymore.
Pain? Never returned.
My only regret?
We missed the USG during the episode, which could have documented the improvement visibly. But that’s real life—we often act only when we’re in crisis.
The Takeaway
This case reminds me (and hopefully, anyone reading this) that homeopathy is not slow when used correctly.
- It doesn’t mean “wait and watch”.
- It doesn’t mean avoiding allopathy in emergencies.
- It simply means: listen, observe, individualize, and prescribe.
If you’ve ever suffered from unexplained swelling, pain, or thyroid-related concerns, don’t assume surgery or suppression are your only options. There could be a gentler, deeper path to healing.
